UN Development Programme supported 83 countries in the context of the pandemic

It amounted to $23.3 million.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) supported 83 countries in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic in one month. The organization said in a statement issued Thursday.

“Previous severe conditions in a number of low- and middle-income countries (poverty, lack of secure living conditions and strong government, fragile infrastructure) could be further exacerbated by the pandemic”, –  noted UNDP.

In this regard, they announced the launch of a ‘quick response programme’ aimed at providing immediate support to these countries.

“This programme has helped 83 countries during the month, amounting to $23.3 million”, –  it said.

“This assistance includes procurement of medicines, protective clothing for health workers, coronavirus tests, as well as support for local initiatives to disseminate information about COVID-19”, –  the UNDP informed.
