LPR reports one shelling by the Ukrainian security forces per day

Once a day, Ukrainian security forces violated the ceasefire by firing at the territory of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic, the reporters were told at the LPR representative office in the Joint Center for the Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire (JCCC).

According to the LPR representative office in the JCCC, on April 21, the Ukrainian security forces once violated the silence regime.

“On April 22, one shelling was recorded by the armed forces of Ukraine”, – said a representative of the LPR.

He specified that the Ukrainian security forces fired from a mortar with a caliber of 120 millimeters and BMP-2 weapons in the village of Berezovskoye controlled by the republic. As a result of the shelling, one residential building and a civilian vehicle were damaged.

In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR, which declared independence after the coup in Ukraine in February 2014. According to the latest UN data, about 13 thousand people became victims of the conflict.

The issue of resolving the situation in the Donbass is being discussed, including during the meetings in Minsk of the contact group, which since September 2014 has already adopted three documents regulating steps to de-escalate the conflict. However, even after armistice agreements between the parties to the conflict, skirmishes continue.
