In the United States, Missouri authorities filed a lawsuit against China because of a coronavirus infection. China is accused of spreading and provoking the pandemic.
The US state of Missouri was the first state in the country to sue Beijing for its reaction to the coronavirus that arose in Wuhan in late December 2019 and has since infected more than 2.5 million people worldwide, The Hill writes.
The lawsuit was filed by Attorney General Eric Schmitt.
“The PRC government has lied to the whole world about the dangers and contagiousness of COVID-19… Beijing has done nothing to stop the spread of coronavirus”, – the lawsuit said.
It is also noted that the infection caused irreparable damage to countries around the world, causing illness, death, economic turmoil and human suffering.
Missouri demands Beijing to repair the damage.
China, in turn, rejected the allegations of the state, calling them “useless statements by US lawmakers”.
“The international community will defeat the virus only if it can unite and cooperate. Discrediting other countries is simply a waste of time and cannot save the dead”, – said Geng Shuang, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
