U.S. President Donald Trump said he instructed the Navy to destroy any Iranian boats that are obstructing U.S. ships at sea.
“I have instructed the U.S. Navy to fire and destroy any Iranian military boats that are obstructing U.S. ships at sea,” he wrote on his Twitter account Wednesday. The U.S. leader gave no details.
On April 15, the press office of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet claimed that Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military boats, elite units of the Iranian Armed Forces, were conducting dangerous maneuvers near several U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf. As it was noted in the report, Iranian ships approached American warships at a distance of up to 9 meters.
On April 19, the IRGC stated that they were ready to respond to any erroneous actions of the USA in the Persian Gulf.
