The national debt can "crush" the US economy - its volumes tend to post-war record

On Tuesday, April 21, reports the agency “Bloomberg”, citing data from the Committee on responsible federal budget.

According to the Washington organization, by 2023, the US public debt will break the record set in the years after World War II.

“These forecasts include only the costs that have been accepted to date – during the three-month crisis, when Congressional emergency allocations exceeded $ 2.3 trillion,” the publication said.

At the same time, the publication notes that even before the start of the crown crisis, in 2019, the US debt in relation to GDP more than doubled to 79%. However, this is not the limit. The American economy will face a much more serious blow. The Committee predicts that the US public debt could reach 117% of GDP in the next five years. For comparison, in 1946, the public debt was 106%.
