States did not withdraw from Open Skies Treaty – US Administration

The United States has not withdrawn from the Open Skies Treaty (OST), but continues to consider options for its future actions in relation to this multilateral agreement. This was reported in TASS with reference to a representative of the US administration, who commented on a statement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“The United States did not withdraw from the Open Skies Treaty. We are currently studying the costs and benefits associated with our participation in the Don and consider all options for action under the agreement in order to achieve our goals in the field of national security. The US administration is committed to arms control efforts that enhance the security of the United States, its allies and partners, and are verifiable and enforceable, and include partners who fulfill their responsibilities responsibly, ” the representative assured.
