China is well positioned to be the first to enter the market with the COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine, and this is a problem for the US.
This statement was made by Scott Gottlieb, former head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, in a comment to CBS.
According to him, American experts will be able to test “hundreds of thousands of doses” not before autumn. He expressed hope that by that time the U.S. will have at least one drug that will be effective in combating COVID-19.
However, Gottlieb called the fact that China is creating its own vaccine a problem. The expert called it a problem, because the United States may miss the chance to enter the market with its own vaccine.
“I have my doubts about their adenoviral vector vaccine, but they have an opportunity to get it on the market before we do. I think there’s something to worry about”, – Gottlieb said.
