Germany is still at the beginning of a coronavirus epidemic and the lifting of restrictive measures should be slow and gradual, German Chancellor Angela Merkel told a briefing in Berlin on Monday.
“We must not lose sight of the fact that, despite everything, we are still at the beginning of the pandemic, we have not overcome it. That is especially important at the beginning of this week, when the first easing comes into effect. It is difficult. But if we remove the restrictions now…we won’t know exactly what the result will be. We have to act gradually, slowly and carefully”, – Merkel said.
As of Monday, Germany is officially allowed to relax restrictive measures, in particular shops under 800 square meters, car dealerships, bicycle shops and bookstores can start working. Specifically regulate the opening of retail outlets entrusted to the states.
