Russian scientists complete creation of test system for antibodies to COVID-19

Russian scientists have completed work on the creation of a test system that will determine the presence of antibodies to coronavirus in humans.

This was announced on Facebook by the Head of the transplantation immunology laboratory of the Research Center for Hematology Grigory Efimov.

As the expert noted, the test allows not only to identify those who have had the virus, but also to identify people with a high concentration of antibodies. In the future, their plasma can be used to treat patients in whom the infection is severe.

“We see that the majority of our donors have a high titer of antibodies and hope that as long as it remains, it will protect them from reinfection”, – Gazeta.ru quoted Efimov.

It is expected that in the near future clinical trials of developed test systems will start. If the results are deemed successful, then registration will begin.

Currently, in Russia there are more than 32 thousand infected with coronavirus, 2.5 thousand patients have recovered, 273 people have died.
