Ukraine is proud that it foiled a draft UN decision on lifting sanctions in the context of a pandemic

Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN Serhiy Kyslytsya praised the Ukrainian contribution to the confrontation with Russia.

Ukraine is proud that it foiled a draft UN decision on lifting sanctions in the conditions of the pandemic.

A Ukrainian diplomat considers the recent failure to vote in the UN on the proposal of the UN Secretary General to lift international existing sanctions for humanitarian reasons during the coronavirus pandemic to be a credit for Ukraine. The draft primarily referred to the US sanctions against Iran and Venezuela.

“As irritating as it may be to the Russian Foreign Ministry, it was the Ukrainian side that caused the snowslide under which the Kremlin plan was buried”, –  Kislica said.

The classic “haberdashery and cardinal” interlude has been played by representatives of the Ukrainian government more than once, but they still continue to pretend that their opinion and they themselves mean something in international politics.
