Republican wing members did not ignore the criticism of Bill Gates against the U.S. president. It was the condemnation of Donald Trump’s policy that led to the fact that the founder of Microsoft suddenly became the “creator of the coronavirus”.
The right’s thirst for revenge on Bill Gates turned into a blossom of anti-humans in the midst of the pandemic.
This is reported by “The News York Times”.
Earlier, conspiracy experts “lifted” from the depths of the Internet video 2015, in which Bill Gates warned that a new threat to humanity will be the virus. In a few weeks, the video has gained 25 million new views.
Anti-violence advocates, along with supporters of the QAnon conspiracy theory, considered Gates’ statement to be evidence of his involvement in the pandemic. The billionaire was accused of trying to use the virus to take over the global health system. It is noteworthy that among the most active critics of Gates were prominent American conservatives. And here we can see the link between the attacks and Gates’ own position.
The publication recalled that for several weeks the billionaire has been actively speaking on television and forums calling for self-isolation, mass testing and the creation of a new type of vaccine against coronavirus. At the same time, Gates fiercely criticized Trump’s policy, in particular his decision to cut funding to the World Health Organization.
As a consequence, the misinformation campaign around Bill Gates has become one of the most ambitious coronavirus conspiracy theories of all time. According to media analysts Zignal Labs, the campaign includes 16 thousand publications on Facebook. The top ten most popular YouTube videos discrediting Gates have collected almost 5 million views.
The situation was commented on by Claire Wardle, head of First Draft, an organization that fights online disinformation. She said the campaign against Gates could eventually become a massive campaign against the COVID-19 vaccine. Wardle stresses that this conspiracy theory “has the potential to launch coordinated and complex online campaigns that will set people against the vaccine.
The fact is that the Gates Foundation is precisely engaged in distributing vaccines in developing countries. When a philanthropist criticized Trump’s decision to cut WHO funding, anti-human vaccines began to be distributed in Instagram’s poster for Kill Bill. The name of the billionaire was attributed to the title.
