The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case against the online edition of “Sitting Russia” for publishing fake information about the coronavirus. This is stated in the resolution of the UK.

We are talking about material published on the organization’s website on April 9, 2020, which says that supposedly 30 prisoners in a colony in the village of Toporok in the Novgorod Region got a coronavirus. This information is not true.

“To initiate a criminal case on the fact of disseminating knowingly false information about 30 cases of patients with coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in PKU KP-6 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Novgorod region, on the grounds of a crime under Art. 207.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (Public dissemination of knowingly false information about circumstances posing a threat to the life and safety of citizens), ” the resolution said.

An investigation is ongoing into the incident.
