The World Health Organization has published an updated strategy to combat COVID 19, a document was released after the statement by the US President Donald Trump that Washington was suspending WHO funding.
“One of the main things that we learned about COVID-19 in recent months is that the sooner all cases are identified, tested, isolated and necessary care, the more difficult the virus will spread. This principle will save lives and mitigate the economic consequences pandemics. There’s no time to lose. WHO’s focus is on serving all people to save lives and stop the COVID-19 pandemic”, – WHO Director-General Tedros Adhan Gbreyesus said on his Twitter microblog, introducing an updated strategy following Trump’s statements.
The published document consists of 28 pages. In particular, it contains recommendations to states on the most effective measures from the point of view of WHO to contain the spread of COVID-19, identify cases, track their contacts, as well as international interaction and exchange of information on virus research.
