Police take action against Islamic State cell in Germany

Police arrested four Islamists suspected of terrorism in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The detention took place on Wednesday morning, April 15th.

It is said that violators belong to the Islamic State*. They planned attacks all over Germany.

According to federal prosecutors, four suspects were arrested by special forces of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia and officials from the Düsseldorf police headquarters in Essen, Neuss and Siegen. Defendants’ homes and six other properties in North Rhine-Westphalia were also searched. Firearms and ammunition were found, as well as everything necessary to create improvised explosive devices.

According to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, they communicated with two senior IS* leaders in Syria and Afghanistan, from whom they received instructions.

Four of those arrested and a Tajik citizen already in custody are suspected of creating a terrorist cell in Germany as members of the Islamic State jihadist police (ISIS*). They say that they joined the organization in January 2019.
