Pelosi promised to challenge Trump’s decision to suspend WHO funding

Speaker of the US House of Representatives Democrat Nancy Pelosi announced her intention to challenge President Donald Trump’s decision to suspend funding for the World Health Organization, calling his move dangerous and meaningless.

On Tuesday, Trump said that Washington was stopping funding for WHO, which, according to it, did not provide information about the coronavirus in a timely manner, and also did not bring the truth to the world community.

“The President’s suspension of WHO funding against the backdrop of her global fight against the coronavirus pandemic is pointless <…> This is a dangerous and illegal decision that will soon be challenged”, – Pelosi said in a statement.

She noted that success in combating the global pandemic can only be achieved through “a coordinated international response to science and data”.

“Unfortunately, as it has been from day one, the President ignores global health experts, ignores science and undermines the efforts of heroes fighting at the forefront, putting the lives and livelihoods of Americans and people all over the world at great risk. Here is one example, as I said, of the President’s ineffective reaction: this is a weak person, a bad and irresponsible leader. A weak person blames others”, – Pelosi added.
