G20 Health Ministers Meeting to be held on April 19 by videoconference.

The Group of Twenty (G20) countries should discuss what the global health system will be like after the coronavirus pandemic. This was announced on Tuesday by Brazilian Health Minister Luiz Henrique Mandetta ahead of the G20 Health Ministers’ meeting scheduled for April 19 via videoconference.

“As we are experiencing this situation all over the world, it is necessary to develop a position on what kind of organizational capacities we have, to think about what should be the health system, – ” the politician said, answering a question during a press conference on what proposals Brazil will make at the upcoming G20 Ministerial meeting.

“I am confident that now, in the context of [Coronavirus-induced disease] COVID-19, we will only start this discussion on how we will build a new global health system for the post epidemic period”, -Mandetta said.

The first coronavirus case in Brazil was confirmed on 26 February in Sao Paulo. So far, more than 25.2 thousand cases of infection have been identified in the country, and more than 1.5 thousand people have died. The mortality rate is 6.1%.
