China appreciated Lavrov’s statement that claims for compensation were inadmissible

This is about compensation for damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

China appreciates the statement made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the inadmissibility of demands on the Chinese side to compensate for the damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian during a briefing on Wednesday, commenting on the words of the Russian minister.

“We highly appreciate the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. From the very beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, Russia has provided us with political support and material assistance”, –  said the diplomat.

“Now Russia is also at a critical stage [of fighting the spread of coronavirus], China <…> is making significant efforts to help and support the Russian side, demonstrating our traditional friendship. Of course, we pay attention to a certain “noise”: some media and people distort the facts, spread rumors about China and Russia. As partners, China and the Russian Federation will overcome all the difficulties they face shoulder to shoulder”. –  said a representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an online interview for Russian and foreign media that demands from Western countries that China compensate for the damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic are unacceptable.
