State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin criticized the US and European measures taken to combat the effects of coronavirus, and added that the Russian Federation should have a different approach.
On Tuesday, the State Duma is discussing a package of bills to support citizens and businesses in connection with the spread of coronavirus and problems in the economy.
“The President conducts a direct dialogue almost every week to support our citizens with governors and business, with experts, representatives of the medical community. This is how we should work – only within our powers. And you see what is happening in those countries that don’t take responsibility: the authorities do not take responsibility, the heads of state, parliaments are dissolved for this time, and everyone runs away”, – Volodin said at a plenary meeting of the State Duma on Tuesday.
According to him, some countries that closed the borders abandoned their citizens.
“Here you have the vaunted democracy. Here you have, excuse me, health care in America. Who always showed the finger there? They are silent! Who spoke about Europe? They are silent! The borders were closed, people were thrown. But we are saving people, we are taking them out. We have to have another approach: think less about yourself, think more about people, about the country”, – the State Duma speaker added.
