Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed with the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi over the phone the spread of coronavirus in the world, the parties confirmed their mutual disposition to strengthen coordination, the Russian Ministry said.
Lavrov’s telephone conversation with Wang Yi took place on April 14.
“The ministers discussed the situation with the spread of coronavirus infection in the world, examined the measures taken by both parties to counter the pandemic. The Russian-Chinese cooperation in solving practical problems in this direction was highly appreciated. The mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation to protect the life and health of citizens of the two countries was confirmed. and coordination of efforts in the fight against a pandemic in the international arena”, – the agency said.
The conversation will touch upon a number of other topical issues on the bilateral and international agenda, including the interaction of Russia and China in the UN and its Security Council, as well as the tasks of promoting a sustainable settlement of the situation in Afghanistan, taking into account the interests of the countries of the region, the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
