The closure of churches and weapons stores is unnerving for certain sections of the American society.
This was reported by the Associated Press.
According to media reports, social tensions and distrust of the federal government are rapidly growing in the United States. Many officials argue that public health measures are used as “excuses for violating constitutional rights”. Matt Shea, a Republican in the US House of Representatives, claims to be “ending unconstitutional actions against the US citizens”.
“Quarantine is only for sick people, not healthy, law-abiding people. Otherwise, it becomes constitutionally and legally the conditions of martial law”, – Shea says.
Matt Shea’s activities were criticized at the Southern Poverty Alleviation Center, calling it “the legitimization of an extremist network” amid thousands of Americans dying from coronavirus.
However, Shea is not the only opponent of quarantine restrictions. In Idaho, Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler demanded Republican Governor Bred Little to review his orders. Wheeler in his letter calls into question the reliability of the information on coronavirus provided by the World Health Organization.
“You can ask those who are sick to stay at home, but at the same time, you must free the others so that we can continue to do normal activities”, – Wheeler wrote.
Member of the Republican Party and Idaho Congressional Representative, Heather Scott, in turn, called the government’s response to the virus “a way to destroy the foundations of our Constitution to advance the global socialist agenda in a state of emergency”.
Maryland Republican Daryl Metcalfe criticized the governor, saying he “has no right to jail any citizen in his own home”.
“The government itself will do far more damage in its response to the coronavirus than the coronavirus itself”, – said a North Dakota representative in the lower house of the Parliament.
As News Front previously reported, today the United States remains the world leader in the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19. Now there are almost 600 thousand infected and about 24 thousand deaths. This situation did not prevent Donald Trump from announcing a partial lifting of restrictive measures. He called this step “the most important decision in his life”.
