Hundreds of Taliban prisoners have been released in Afghanistan

In total, as part of the agreement, the Afghan authorities intend to release about 1,500 Taliban.

Afghan authorities have released 361 Taliban members from prison, National Security Council spokesman Javid Faisal said on Twitter Monday, April 13.

Taliban prisoners were released from Bagram prison by presidential decree on 11 March.

In total, the authorities plan to release 1.5 thousand members of the radical movement.

Earlier, the Taliban released 20 prisoners and handed them over to the International Committee of the Red Cross in Kandahar.

We remind you that on February 29th the USA and the Taliban signed a peace agreement. The document provides for the withdrawal of American troops and NATO forces from Afghanistan and the beginning of an inter-Afghan dialogue. The parties could not agree on the release of prisoners for a long time.
