The US President Donald Trump, signing the law on the allocation of 2.2 trillion dollars to overcome the effects of the corona crisis, provided his own vineyard in Virginia with the right for help.
This is reported by Reuters on Saturday, April 11.
As noted in the media, deep in the text of the document are hidden provisions that make the grape plantations of the US President full recipients of state financial support. This was made possible thanks to the item on assistance to producers of “special crops”, including grapes used for the manufacture of wine products.
The Press Service of the White House declined to comment on the situation. Nevertheless, back in March at a press conference, Trump was openly asked whether his companies would apply for state support.
“Let’s just see what happens because we have to save some of these great companies”, – the President answered.
The agency emphasizes that from the point of view of the President’s law, many prohibitions on obtaining personal benefits that apply to other public servants do not apply. Against this background, the Democrats tried to stop Trump from providing his business with state support, but their restrictions apply only to one tranche of $ 500 billion.
The restrictions do not apply to a separate fund of $ 9.5 billion, which is just provided for producers of “special crops”, including grapes, in accordance with the principles of the US Department of Agriculture.
