China sent doctors to Russia to help fight coronavirus

China sent a group of specialists to Russia to help combat the spread of coronavirus infection, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.

The group was formed by the State Committee for Health of the PRC. It flew to Russia on the morning of April 11th.

“The government of Moscow invited experts from China, among them – the reputable Chinese virologists and doctors who have extensive clinical experience and practical knowledge acquired during the struggle against the COVID-19 epidemic in the country”, – said the Russian Consulate General in Harbin.

Chinese experts will bring with them several tons of medical protective equipment, which Heilongjiang Province donated to Russia.

The provincial leader, Secretary of the Heilongjiang Party Committee Zhang Qingwei, as well as representatives of the local government and the media arrived at the airport to accompany the group.

The ceremony was attended by Russian diplomats.

The World Health Organization on March 11 announced an outbreak of a new coronavirus infection COVID-19 with a pandemic. According to the latest WHO data, more than one and a half million cases of infection have been recorded in the world, almost 93 thousand people have died.

11 917 patients with coronavirus were identified in Russia (7822 of them in Moscow), 94 people died, almost 800 recovered.

In China, where the spread of the disease began, some time ago the end of the epidemic was announced. However, now the number of imported cases is growing in the country, as Chinese citizens return home from countries with a difficult epidemiological situation.
