He is charged with bringing Berdyansk seaport to bankruptcy.
The Higher Anticorruption Court of Ukraine ordered the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) to open a criminal case against former Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelian, his deputy and other ministry officials for bringing Berdyansk sea port to bankruptcy. The court’s press service said this on Thursday.
“The information provided in the Berdyansk Anticorruption Center’s statement contains objective data that may indicate the commission of criminal offenses investigated by the NABU. They need to be investigated as part of a pre-trial investigation by NABU detectives”, – the court said on its website.
According to the complainant, the former minister, his deputy, the ministry’s state secretary, as well as officials from the current Ministry of Infrastructure brought Berdyansk Sea Port to bankruptcy. The officials, according to the complaint, abused power and grossly violated the law.
Volodymyr Omelyan served as Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine from 2016 to 2019.
