The British Prime Minister’s Office rejected Trump’s offer to help with his treatment

An official spokesman for the British prime minister said that the treatment given to Boris Johnson is in the competence of his doctors.

The office of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson rejected the offer of U.S. President Donald Trump to help treat the head of the British government, who had previously been hospitalized due to deteriorating conditions amidst a coronavirus infection. This was reported by The Times on Tuesday, citing an official representative of the British Prime Minister.

“We are confident that the Prime Minister receives the best assistance from the [British] National Health System. Any treatment he receives is in the hands of his doctors”, –  Johnson says.

The coronavirus infection was discovered in the UK Prime Minister on 26 March. He continued to lead the country, self-isolating at his residence on Downing Street, but was taken to St Thomas Hospital in London on 5 April for tests as his fever had been elevated for over 10 days. On Monday evening, the Prime Minister was transferred to the intensive care unit as his condition worsened. According to the latest information, the Prime Minister’s condition is stable and he continues to stay in the intensive care unit for close monitoring. It is stressed that Johnson did not need either mechanical ventilation or non-invasive respiratory support.

The day before, at a briefing at the White House, Trump conveyed his best wishes to “his very good friend” Johnson and said he had asked two American pharmaceutical companies to immediately contact London to offer a newly developed comprehensive treatment.

“Let’s see if they want to go this way”, –  the White House owner explained.
