Eurobureaucracies failed to agree on a €500 billion “Marshall Plan”

The finance ministers of the euro zone countries could not reach agreement on a plan to restore the EU economy destroyed by the coronavirus pandemic COVID-19.

Eurobureaucracies failed to agree on a “Marshall Plan” worth €500 billion.

This was announced by the chairman of the Eurogroup, Mariu Sentenu.

The strategy involves the allocation of 500 billion euros. The meeting lasted 16 hours. The participants, according to Sentenou, “came as close to an agreement as possible,” but never reached it. The next round of negotiations will be held on Thursday, April 9.

As News Front reported, earlier the head of the European diplomacy Josep Borrel voiced the main problem of the strategy of the EU economy recovery from the pandemic. She was called Marshall’s second plan, not taking into account that this time Europe does not have a Marshall, said Borrell. Thus, this time the Europeans will have to restore everything by their own means.

At the same time, head of the Munich Security Conference Wolfgang Ischinger said that now Europe needs to intensify the fight against European scepticism and convince people that the EU has not lost its relevance.
