US is ready to lift anti-Russian sanctions due to falling oil prices

The crisis triggered by the coronavirus pandemic is a great opportunity to negotiate with the Kremlin.

This conclusion was reached by three former US ambassadors to Ukraine William Taylor, John Herbst and Stephen Pifer in their collective statement, which was published on the website of the American National Public Radio.

As News Front previously reported, the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19 led to a reduction in oil demand, which, together with an overestimated supply, provoked a collapse in prices. An attempt to limit the extraction of raw materials within OPEC also failed. So in the world the fourth oil war began in the last 35 years.

For the United States, the situation is aggravated by the fact that a significant part of US oil production is the shale segment, which becomes unprofitable in the face of a collapse in prices. In addition, in connection with the economic collapse, the United States has already broken the record of the Great Depression, although the crisis may drag on.

Against this background, American diplomats are calling for a deal with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, abandoning anti-Russian sanctions and putting an end to the “only hot war in Europe” – the armed conflict in the Donbass. At the same time, politicians say that it was Russia that suffered the most from the oil war.

“Given the spread of coronavirus and the collapse in oil prices, which put pressure on the Kremlin, the United States and its allies are required to propose abandoning international sanctions against Russia”, – the letter said.

In exchange, they demand a cessation of hostilities in the Donbass, and they demand it from Russia, invariably following Washington’s anti-Russian political vector. Diplomats are offering the US President Donald Trump, as well as the Congress, to work in this direction to protect American interests in times of crisis.

“The Trump administration and Congress are required to take this opportunity”, – they emphasize.
