The reason is the loss due to the coronavirus pandemic. The head of the EC is confident that measures must be taken now. This is the only way to get out of the current crisis.

“For this we need large investments, a kind of Marshall plan for Europe. A strong EU budget should be central, ”she said.

Von der Leyen said that “many billions of euros need to be invested today to avoid a greater disaster.” But where to get them from?
