The Russian Ministry of Defense, on the behalf of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin, created an aviation group to expeditiously deliver aid to Serbia due to the coronavirus pandemic starting on April 3.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
According to the agency, at the moment, at the military airfield Chkalovsky everything is ready for the transfer of eight medical and military teams with modern medical equipment by IL-76 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces and a detachment of specialists at the Russian Chemical Safety Laboratory for disinfection measures.
“For the transfer of personnel and equipment, it is planned to carry out 11 aircraft flights of the military transport aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces, which will deliver to the Republic of Serbia 87 military personnel, including military physicians, specialist virologists of the Russian Chemical Forces Safety Base, special medical equipment, protective equipment and 16 units of military equipment”, – the Ministry of Defense declared.
On March 26, the Serbian government asked Russia to help the country in the fight against coronavirus.
On April 2, the Kremlin announced that Russia would provide humanitarian assistance to Serbia.
