WHO assessed Russia’s success in the fight against coronavirus

Measures taken in Russia have slowed the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19 in the country.

Such a statement was made by Melita Vuinovich, representative of the World Health Organization in the Russian Federation, in the commentary to Izvestia.

She expressed the hope that Russia will be able to stop the transmission of infection, thereby slowing down the growth of morbidity.

“Some countries managed to slow down the spread of the epidemic, which is very important”, –  said Vuinovich. – “Good examples are Korea, Singapore and so on. Nevertheless, the epidemic continues to grow. Only when it stops, can we take concrete conclusions. Russia managed to successfully slow down the epidemic in its initial phase. It remains to be hoped that the additional measures that have been taken will stop the transmission of the disease”.

As News Front reported earlier, Russia’s success in the fight against coronavirus was also noted in Europe. Thus, Norwegian journalist Kim Noor pointed out that Russia was able to protect itself from the spread of coronavirus in a short period of time by taking the necessary measures while “officials in Western Europe were struck by ideological paralysis.

According to official data, as of April 1, Russia recorded only 2.7 thousand cases of infection with coronavirus of a new type, including 440 – in the past 24 hours. The number of lethal outcomes is 24, with 190 people recovering.
