Washington chose to sacrifice sailors – Trump and the Pentagon renounced the coronavirus aircraft carrier

The U.S. administration disagrees with the statement of the captain of the aircraft carrier “Theodore Roosevelt” Brett Crozier, who said that “sailors do not need to die in war”.

This is reported by the agency “Bloomberg”.

U.S. President Donald Trump has generally refused to make a decision on such a controversial issue. He shifted the responsibility for what is happening to U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper. The head of the Pentagon, in turn, said that the authorities are waiting for the right moment.

“To date, we are trying to check whether we can really contain the virus, whether we can get reliable information using express tests, as well as assess the number of infected crew members”, –  Esper commented on the situation.

As News Front previously reported, Theodore Roosevelt anchored off the coast of Guam in the Western Pacific. The ship was to patrol the region, but the mission was disrupted by a COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. The first infections were detected early in the month after the ship entered a port in Vietnam.

The ship’s captain had already asked the U.S. leadership to evacuate most of the crew, leaving only the minimum necessary crew on the ship.
