Syria overthrew the leader of the group involved in the terrorist attack in the metro of St. Petersburg

This is reported by the specialized telegram channel “Directorate 4”, citing local sources.

According to reports, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the largest militant alliance in Idlib, is trying to restore the influence it lost during the confrontation with government forces. In this regard, the group is trying to take control of the weaker formations operating in the region.

Among the “absorbed” was the group “Tawheed Val Jihad.” It was with her that the suicide bomber Akbarjon Jalilov was connected, who launched a terrorist attack in the metro of St. Petersburg in 2017.

Until recently, Tawhid Val Jihad was led by field commander Abu Salah, but he was overthrown by the forces of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. Abdul Aziz Damlu was appointed the leader. Abu Salah himself was left a “spiritual mentor”, although soon the new leadership of the group began to get rid of it.

The situation led to a split in the ranks of Tawhid Val Jihad. This allowed Abu Salah to begin to assemble a new group, called the “Jaish Muhajir.” Salah invites foreign militants into his ranks who do not share the ambitious intentions of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham to receive a kind of monopoly in Idlib.
