Deputy Foreign Minister of China Luo Zhaohuei told about incorrect libelous statements by the U.S.
During the spread of the new coronavirus in the world, some American politicians have repeatedly made unacceptable statements against China, worsening relations between the two countries and negatively affecting their cooperation in the fight against the pandemic. This was stated on Thursday by Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Lo Zhaohuei.
“Recently, some U.S. politicians have made incorrect libelous statements that have had a negative impact on Sino-US cooperation in the fight against the spread of the virus. These statements have led to the deterioration of our bilateral relations”, – he said at a press conference. – “The Chinese people were outraged by such statements, which denigrated the image of China. Of course, we had to respond”.
At the same time, the diplomat reminded that many American companies and individuals, as well as Chinese compatriots living in the United States, actively supported China in difficult moments. He recalled that the United States leadership has repeatedly praised Beijing’s success in fighting the pandemic.
“It is necessary to ensure harmonious and stable development of Sino-American relations in the interests of the peoples of both countries and the world. We believe that the United States should work with us to resolve differences on the basis of mutual respect”, – concluded Luo Zhaohuei.
