Putin announced measures to combat coronavirus at the G20 summit

Vladimir Putin at the virtual G20 summit announced measures to combat the spread of coronavirus.

So, the Russian leader suggested:

— to create a special fund under the auspices of the IMF and grant the right to any member to borrow funds;
— to develop a general plan for the restoration of the economy affected by the coronavirus;
— to direct WHO’s efforts to identify hidden coronavirus epidemics in countries where testing is not possible;
— to create “green corridors” free from trade wars and sanctions;
– to introduce a moratorium on restrictions on essential goods and transactions.

As the president noted, the last measure is a humanitarian issue that will allow to clean out the “political husk”.

According to Putin, the problems associated with the coronavirus will turn into more massive shocks than the crisis of 2008 and 2009, and trade sanctions exacerbate the recession.

In this regard, the Russian leader urged the G20 countries to join forces to accelerate the production of vaccination against coronavirus, as well as to establish an exchange of data on the disease.

Putin considers long-term unemployment a key risk from the pandemic. Its dynamics will be the main indicator of the effectiveness of anti-crisis measures, the President added.
