Friend is known in trouble. The EU is no longer effective, but Russia will help save the situation

In a fit of national egoism, the European Union suddenly forgot about the principles of international solidarity, refusing to supply the necessary medicines to Italy, the main epicenter of the distribution of COVID-19 in Europe, thereby leaving the Mediterranean country at the mercy of fate.

Amid the staggering bureaucracy of supranational structures with respect to Italy, the Russian President Vladimir Putin offered real help, by the order of which the fifteenth aircraft of the Russian aerospace forces was sent to the Italian Lombardy today, in which military doctors, virologists and epidemiologists carry military special equipment, Russian humanitarian aid and the necessary medical equipment.

Quarantine conditions are becoming tougher, fines are increasing. A coronavirus patient who deliberately violates the quarantine regime is at risk of receiving up to five years in prison today. The market for medicines and medical equipment, which literally crashed, became virtually inaccessible. Every day, a raging virus kills more than 700 people.

According to experts, the reason for the rapidly and irreversibly spreading epidemic was insufficient caution, delaying the timely identification of a state of emergency and the introduction of a quarantine regime.

Commenting on the situation in Europe, Tiberio Graziani, President of the Vision & Global Trends International Institute for Global Analysis, noted the double standards of the European Union and the absolute non-compliance of his policies with liberal democratic standards. According to him, the manifested incompetence will inevitably lead to a weakening of the influence of this political institution.

“Recent weeks have shown the world the complete inadequacy of the activities of the European Union. This pandemic will be disastrous for the EU as a purely bureaucratic apparatus, however, the current situation motivates the countries that are members of the European Union to make every effort to achieve solidarity and overcome differences”, – the expert said.

The global crisis COVID-19 dictates another equally important idea: common grief traditionally unites disparate societies, but not every friend is able to provide proper assistance in an emergency. A competent and objective assessment of the activities of countries and political institutions, understanding of the level and quality of humanitarian assistance provided, as well as the desire of the Russian Federation to contribute to stabilization of the world community, are the key to healthy relations and adequate policies in the future.
