The death toll of the attack on the Sikh temple in Kabul has grown to 11 people, the Tolo News television channel reported citing a source in the security forces.
At least three dead were previously reported. The militants entered the temple, located in the central region of Kabul Shor Bazar, at about 7.45 local time (5.45 Moscow time).
According to Tolo News, at least seven people were affected.
MP Narendera Singh Khalisa said that during the attack in the temple there were about 150 people who were killed, the parliamentarian quoted local TV channel 1TV News as saying. According to preliminary reports, there were suicide bombers among the attackers. Police are working at the scene.
The official representative of the Taliban* radical movement, Zabiullah Mujahid, said that the movement is not related to the attack and does not take responsibility for what happened.
In Afghanistan, there is a confrontation between government forces and militants of the radical Taliban movement, which had previously captured a significant territory in rural areas of the country and launched an attack on large cities. Recently, the influence of the Islamic State terrorist group* has also intensified in Afghanistan.
