The EU has ceased to fulfill its key functions.
This statement was made by Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid, commenting on the deplorable situation in the community, which provoked the pandemic of the coronavirus infection COVID-19.
“The EU now really does not fulfill its main function, which implies providing a single market. The bottom line is to ensure a single economic space, the free movement of labor, products, services and capital. There are problems with at least three items on this list,” complains Kaljulaid.
He expressed appreciation for the fact that the European Commission has contributed to the tender for the supply of medical products. However, she emphasizes that the EC function is not in this.
“Her task is to work on the implementation of those things that are in our agreements. I believe that we have a serious discussion with our partners, ” stated the head of the Baltic Republic.
As News Front previously reported, the EU countries began to close their borders in connection with the pandemic, which disrupted the normal functioning of the community. Moreover, local authorities have restricted the export of medicines and equipment. Most of all, this approach affected Italy, which became the European epicenter of the spread of coronavirus. Russia volunteered to help the republic by sending several planes with humanitarian aid and doctors there.
