Elected President of the Republic Aslan Bzhania said that there is not a single unsolvable task between the parties.
President-elect of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania said that the new leadership of the country will pay special attention to the rapprochement with Russia.
“As for relations with Russia, he intends to act within the framework of those agreements that exist. Some provisions of these agreements have been implemented, some have not been implemented; those obligations that were taken by the Abkhazian side should be implemented. We will bring our positions closer on many issues, there is not a single unsolvable task between us. <…> We have heads of state and governments will pay special attention to this area of work, because interaction with Russia <…> directly affects the quality of life of our citizens”,- Bzhania told reporters on Tuesday.
He recalled that it is Russian funds that make up a significant part of the Abkhazian budget. “Today we are working on implementation of the investment program, nothing has been suspended. We have to build so many contacts with the Russian Federation that our activities cannot be hampered by some personnel problems”, – Bzhania added.
Investment program for 2020-2022 in the amount of 4.5 billion rubles was approved on December 18th, 2019 at a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on socio-economic cooperation of Abkhazia and Russia in Sukhumi. The Ministry of Caucasus was the curator of the investment programme but earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin abolished this ministry and transferred its functions to the Ministry of Economic Development.
