The G7 Foreign Ministers will discuss Coronavirus, DPRK and Iran by videoconference on March 25

Participating countries will also exchange views on the situation in the Middle East.

On March 25, the G7 Foreign Ministers will hold talks for the first time by videoconference on the situation with the spread of coronavirus in the world. This was announced by Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi at a press conference in Tokyo on Tuesday.

“Tomorrow at 20:00 Japanese time the G7 Foreign Ministers will start negotiations. For the first time they will be held in video format. In such a difficult situation when the coronavirus is spreading in the world, we can not physically gather”, –  he said.

“In addition to the coronavirus situation, we will discuss current international issues, including North Korea, Iran and the situation in the Middle East”, –  the minister added.

U.S. President Donald Trump said last week that because of the Coronavirus, he will cancel the June meeting of the Group of Seven leaders at his residence in Camp David and instead hold the summit via video conference. The US is chairing the G7 this year.
