US anti-Iran sanctions have become a direct threat to the lives of ordinary people.

US blocks sending COVID-19 test system from South Korea to Iran

The US authorities by their sanctions are blocking the supply of humanitarian aid from South Korea to Iran in the form of diagnostic test systems for the new coronavirus.

In mid-March, Iran, which is currently the leader in the Middle East by the number of people infected with the new coronavirus, asked the South Korean authorities to supply 3 million 200 thousand diagnostic test systems. The South Korean authorities have expressed willingness to make the necessary supply, but the presence of US sanctions against Tehran make such supplies impossible.

South Korean banks fear a reaction from Washington and cannot make payments between the two countries.

South Korean Foreign Ministry talks with the US side on easing sanctions against Iran during the coronavirus pandemic and sending humanitarian aid there have been ongoing since the Iranian request for supply, but no decision has yet been reached on this issue.
