Japan has expanded the list of countries on the arrival of which is prescribed to pass a 14-day quarantine: from March 26, the rule will apply to those who come to the country from the U.S., said the head of the Japanese government Shinzo Abe.
The U.S. ranks third in the world in the number of coronavirus infections after China and Italy: more than 30 thousand confirmed cases have been identified in the country. Over 400 people with coronavirus have died.
On the eve of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs raised the level of danger of traveling to the U.S. from the first to the second, recommending its citizens to refuse to travel to America without an urgent need. The recommendation concerns the entire territory of the United States. In total, the scale implies four degrees of danger, so far the U.S. was subject to the mildest recommendations – to be vigilant when traveling.
“We ask everyone, including Japanese citizens from any U.S. state, to undergo a 14-day quarantine and refrain from using public transportation”, – TBS quoted Abe as saying.
Earlier, similar measures were introduced for all those arriving in Japan from EU countries, Iran, China and South Korea.
