US President Donald Trump has expressed great respect for China amid disagreements between Washington and Beijing over the worldwide spread of the coronavirus.
Speaking today, March 20, at the White House, the American leader once again used the phrase “Chinese virus” to talk about the current pandemic. However, then, answering journalists’ questions, Trump assured that he respected China and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“I have very good relations with China and with President Xi. I have great respect for President Xi, I consider him my friend, ” Trump assured.
He also regretted that “the situation has gotten out of control.”
“It spread from China. Got out of control, Trump said. “I know President X.” He loves China, he respects the United States. I must say that I have great respect for China and respect President Xi, ” added the head of the White House.
