All public and private sector enterprises will be shut down, except for vital facilities.
On Saturday, following a cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister of the Syrian Republic, Imad Khamis, said that the Syrian government decided to suspend the work of most state institutions from March 23 until a special order from the authorities in connection with the threat of the spread of coronavirus.
“All public and private sector enterprises will be shut down, except for vital facilities and companies producing food products and medicines,” Khamis said. “The exception is made with respect to medical centers, pharmacies and grocery stores.”
Recall, on March 14, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad signed a decree on the postponement of elections to the People’s Council (unicameral parliament) from April 13 to May 20 due to the threat of coronavirus. Authorities canceled classes at schools, technical schools and universities.
