As stated in a written statement, the coalition is regrouping forces in Iraq. These actions “reflect success” in the fight against IS, the coalition explains. In addition, we are talking about “short-term steps aimed at protecting personnel in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.”

“We expect that in the future, the coalition will support Iraq’s security forces with fewer bases and fewer troops,” the statement said.

It clarifies that the coalition is withdrawing troops “from several small-sized bases.”

“The coalition remains committed to the irreversible defeat of IS through partnership with the Iraqi security forces. We will renew our support for training Iraqis when the situation permits, ”the statement said.

At the same time, the coalition confirms its intention to temporarily withdraw part of its military instructors from Iraq.
