In the Bundestag, Germany proposed to lift sanctions against Russia, allegedly to save the economy during the coronavirus pandemic.
Anton Friesen, a deputy from Alternative to Germany and member of the Committee on Foreign Relations, made a treacherous statement, RIA Novosti reported.
“To end sanctions against Russia is the best program for our economy during the Coronavirus. Experts expect a loss within 1% of GDP this year. At the same time, the German economy is losing 667 million euros for each month of extended sanctions. That is, we lose 8 billion euros in a year. Economically, everyone loses from the sanctions, politically nobody benefits. Germany should say “no” to the extension of sanctions at the EU summit in June this year”, – Friesen said.
He also said he hoped that the crisis caused by the pandemic “will finally lead to the realization that security and economic development are possible only with Russia, not against it.
As previously reported, Michael Krechmer, prime minister of Saxony (German Federal Land), advocated the lifting of sanctions on Russia and called President Vladimir Putin to Saxony.
