Guaydo called on the Venezuelan Armed Forces to allow humanitarian assistance to combat the coronavirus

The leader of the opposition said that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro “is not able to cope with this emergency.”

The leader of the Venezuelan opposition, Juan Guaydo, has appealed to the national armed forces to open the borders of the Bolivarian Republic and to allow international humanitarian assistance to the country to fight the coronavirus. The statement was published by his press office on Wednesday.

“Our clear and direct call to the national armed forces: there is no more time, ports and airports need to be opened <…> Let the humanitarian aid go”, –  said a document published on the Guaydo Press Service website.

The opposition also claimed that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro “is not able to cope with this emergency situation.”

The Venezuelan government reported the first two cases of infection with coronavirus in the country on March 13. To date, the authorities have confirmed 36 cases. On March 17, President Nicolas Maduro announced the decision to implement quarantine throughout the Bolivarian Republic.
