Kremlin commented on claims of Minsk related to measures for COVID-19

A spokesman for Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin considers unfair claims from Belarus regarding Russian measures to combat the coronavirus COVID-19.

He recalled that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, through the head of the Government of Belarus, Sergei Rumas, had informed the Belarusian partners in advance about the upcoming measures in connection with the coronavirus.

“Therefore, of course, we understand the emotional attitude and so on, but we consider similar criticism of the Russian side, especially in the conditions when we all together oppose the coronavirus, which is unfair”, – Peskov told the reporters.

Earlier, the Russian government reported that it was decided to restrict entry from Belarus to Russian territory in connection with Minsk’s failure to take the recommended measures to block borders with third countries recommended by the World Health Organization.

On March 16, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus, in response to a decision by Russia, would not close its borders, otherwise “in front of the Kremlin, trucks will be in line and people will be furious”.
