In the resort cities of Spain, there were massive clashes of foreign tourists with local police because of measures taken by the government to combat the coronavirus, Deutsche Welle reports.
The clashes began in Spanish resorts on Sunday, March 15, when the police, in pursuance of a government decree, tried to close catering establishments. The epicenter of the protest clashes was the city of Benidorm.
In some establishments, police executing a government decree began throwing dishes and bottles. Many foreign tourists were intoxicated. The police had to use force. There are people injured.
According to the source, most of the cafes and restaurants managed to close, but the beaches still continue to work – the police failed to block access to them and other crowded crowds.
