The parties agreed to continue negotiations.
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin met on Sunday with the head of the Cahol Lavan bloc, Beni Ganz, who will be tasked with forming the cabinet on 16 March, and the leader of the Likud party, Acting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The parties discussed the establishment of a national Government and agreed to continue negotiations.
“I stressed that they (Gantz and Netanyahu) should continue and intensify direct contacts among themselves and between the Likuda and Cahol Lavan negotiating groups, and welcomed their willingness to do so. At the end of the meeting the parties agreed that the negotiating groups would continue the discussion,” Rivlin wrote on his Twitter page following the meeting.
In addition, the Israeli state radio Kan informed that after Rivlin instructed Ganz to form the Israeli Cabinet on March 16, each of them will give a speech in the presidential palace.
