Venezuela announces emergency regime due to coronavirus

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said a state of emergency was declared due to coronavirus infection COVID-19. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“I will act in accordance with article 338 of Constitution, which allows a state of emergency to be introduced in cases that endanger the nation”, – Maduro said.

At the same time, the Head of the country called the fight against the spread of coronavirus “a national goal”.

Venezuelan authorities previously reported the first two cases of coronavirus infection with COVID-19 in the country. On March 11, the World Health Organization announced the COVID-19 pandemic in the world.
